A Connecticut mother of 4 was recently arrested and accused of endangering her children for leaving them home alone with the oldest, who is 13. The teen was left in charge of the younger ones, ages 10, 4 and 1 1/2, while she went to church.
The police got involved when a neighbor called to report that the 4-year-old had wandered across the street into her yard. The mother, Rebecca Young, said the teen was only temporarily stepping in for a half-hour until a grown-up babysitter arrived.
Even though the Connecticut Department of Children and Family says that teens shouldn't be left in charge of younger kids until they're 15, some are questioning if this was really a matter for police.
Do you think they should be involved, IS 13 too young for a teen to be left in charge of younger kids, and don’t you really think that depends on their maturity?
