TR woman shot day before husband killed himself

Investigators said Wednesday that autopsies revealed a Travelers Rest woman was shot to death the day before her husband killed himself.

Travelers Rest police said the bodies were found about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Northcliff Way and the deaths of two people were not suspicious.

Police said the bodies were found when they went to the home to perform a welfare check after a child was not picked up from a day care.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill performed autopsies on Wednesday. He said Michele Wetzelberger, 41, was shot three times sometime Monday night while her husband Dale Wetzelberger, 47, shot himself sometime Tuesday.

Dill said they believe Dale Wetzelberger took the couple's 4-year-old son to day care at the Travelers Rest YMCA before returning home and killing himself.
