Former general who handled Katrina response in SC
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The man who commanded the Army's
response in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina speaks in the South
Carolina Lowcountry at two Black History Month events.
Retired Army Gen. Russel Honore speaks Monday at
Burke High School in downtown Charleston. Then on Tuesday he
addresses cadets at The Citadel as part of the military school's
Greater Issues series.
Honore commanded the Army units which brought relief to the Gulf
Coast after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.
More recently, he has served as a commentator on CNN describing
the recovery from the earthquake in Haiti.
